Donors to the University of Michigan made gifts totaling $5,541,901 during the third annual Giving Blueday, held on Giving Tuesday, a worldwide day of giving. More than 7,364 donors gave to Michigan. Most gifts were under $100.

The University of Michigan Honors Outstanding Volunteer Fundraisers

The University of Michigan honored four exceptional fundraising volunteers with the David B. Hermelin Award for Fundraising Volunteer Leadership on October 21. Anthony and Cheryl Chapekis of Dublin, Ohio; Peter Mertz of Hanover, New Hampshire; and Mary Petrovich of West Bloomfield, Michigan received the 2016 awards in recognition of their phenomenal leadership as volunteer fundraisers for U-M.

$10.75 million gift funds depression research at the University of Michigan

A transformative donation of $10.75 million to the University of Michigan Depression Center will help accelerate development of personalized treatments that are necessary to conquer clinical depression, bipolar disorder and related illnesses. The gift comes from U-M alumni Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg and family of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Professor Jacob Price supports students and visiting scholars in Michigan’s Rackham Graduate School and William L. Clements Library

The late Professor Jacob Price of Ann Arbor, Mich. was passionate about the University of Michigan, his students and history. A distinguished faculty member for 35 years, Professor Price saw teaching history as his gift to students. Decades after retiring, he found another way to give students and scholars the gift of education by including the Rackham Graduate School and William L. Clements Library in his will, further cementing his legacy at the U-M.
