University of Michigan

LB - WHAT - University Priorities

The University of Michigan community is large and passionate. No matter the size, your gift to Michigan joins with the contributions of thousands of other U-M friends and alumni to shape our University today and tomorrow. At the beginning of each fiscal year, University leadership identifies three key areas of support. Here are the critical and strategic areas of support for the current year:

Student Support

Roughly 80 percent of our in-state undergraduates and more than 50 percent of our out-of-state undergraduates receive some form of financial assistance, including grants, loans, work study, and scholarships. Your support for need-based and merit-based scholarships helps keep a Michigan education accessible for talented, deserving students.

As one of the nation's premier public research universities, the U-M is home to scholars who advance understanding in everything from the humanities and natural sciences to life sciences, engineering , medicine, and more. Our extraordinary research bolsters student education and touches countless lives beyond our campuses.

Faculty Support

Michigan's rich tradition in science, health care, the arts, and more has long been nurtured by a commitment to top-notch researchers and instructors. Your continued support helps the University attract and retain world-renowned faculty and ensure that the value of a Michigan degree is forever on the rise.

The University of Michigan has 501(c)(3) non-profit tax exempt status; our federal tax ID number is 38-6006309.
